The Sovereign Hill Heritage Harvest Weekend is an autumnal village festival in Ballarat, recreating and celebrating Gold Rush life as our Victorian ancestors knew it; preserving abundant seasonal harvests with knowledge, culture and rare trades brought to Australia from around the world. Encounter connection and preserve the time-honoured tricks of nineteenth-century craftspeople, breathing life into a time when diggers and villagers would gather at campfires to eat, drink and share secrets, sustenance and stories of home. Discover ancient skills and taste hearty foraged fare – with long-cherished pastimes for little craftspeople. Sovereign Hill is a living museum presenting the story of Ballarat as a goldrush boomtown. Gold was discovered in Ballarat in the 1850s. Sovereign Hill brings to life the colour and excitement of Australia’s 1850s goldfields providing a full day’s entertainment with hands-on experiences for the whole family.
